Start your journey by heading to Ludlow, Vermont, home of Okemo Mountain Resort. The resort offers gondola rides in the fall to the top of the mountain so that you can see the panoramic views of the beautiful foliage from above. 

The resort also has a mountain coaster, mini golf, and a bungee trampoline which means fun for the whole family. What about seeing the leaves from horseback? Nearby, is a horse farm that offers horseback riding for all ages and levels. Begin your day at the Vermont Country Store in Weston where you’ll be transported back in time with some iconic American brands both past and present. 

Next up, head to Chester to see the foliage on a scenic train ride while taking in breathtaking views of covered bridges, the Connecticut River, and the Brockway Mill Gorge. You’ll be guided through the stunning foliage of Southern Vermont with historical narration along the way. Then head to the Mad River Valley to overnight at either the Pitcher Inn or the Inn at the Round Barn

Take the morning to explore the small town of Waitsfield and to explore the Mad River Valley trails for hiking and biking. Then head to Stowe Mountain Resort to try ziplining through the trees! 

Get really up close and personal with the fall foliage on Vermont’s longest zipline. On your way back to Waitsfield, be sure to stop at Ben & Jerry’s for a quick tour and some ice cream. Take it easy tonight because tomorrow you have a big day! Overnight again in Waitsfield.

This morning, you’ll take to the skies with a glider ride at Sugarbush Soaring. A scenic glider ride allows you to take in the sights in an unpowered aircraft which uses the naturally occurring currents to remain airborne.

You’ll have a certified pilot guiding the glider and on clear days you can see all the way to the Adirondacks. After your exhilarating morning, you can relax with a drink at the beer garden at Lawson’s Finest Liquids and a cheese tasting at the Mad River Taste Place. Overnight again in Waitsfield

Start the day by driving up to Vermont’s Queen City; Burlington. Explore Burlington’s Church Street Marketplace before cruising around Lake Champlain on the Whistling Man Schooner. 

Bring your own beverage of choice and a picnic while taking in the foliage from the water. Have dinner at the Hen of the Wood, consistently rated Vermont’s best restaurant and then spend the night at either the Hotel Vermont or the Willard Street Inn.

Your last day in Vermont continues with more time on Lake Champlain and the Burlington waterfront. 

Head to the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center where you can rent stand up paddle boards, canoes, or kayaks. Your last chance to see the foliage will be via bike that you can rent through Local Motion which is located right on the Burlington bike path on the waterfront. The bike path actually extends into Lake Champlain on a causeway that even has a bike ferry to take you to one of the Lake Champlain Islands. You can end your bike ride at Snow Farm Vineyard in South Hero, Vermont’s oldest winery.
